O'Connell's Funeral

One of three illustrations produced for The Illustrated London News, No. 276., Vol. XI., Saturday, 14 August 1847, p. 105. It shows O'Connell's funeral procession making its way along Westmoreland Street, Dublin. In the foreground of the procession is the triumphal car which O'Connell rode in when he was freed from prison in May 1844. By the engraver, H. Harrison, after an original sketch by James Mahoney, (1810-1879).
