Dr Kathleen Lynn (1874-1955) with her colleague Madelaine French-Mullen (right).

Kathleen Lynn was a feminist, socialist and nationalist. A medical doctor, she assisted hunger-striking suffragists. She was chief medical officer in the Irish Citizen's Army in the 1916 Rising. She established St Ultan's Infant Hospital with Madelaine French-Mullen in 1919. For a period, the establishment was entirely staffed by women.
